Bronchitis Vs Pneumonia

Bronchitis and Pneumonia are two quite common problems in the respiratory tracts. Both are the parts of the lower respiratory tract. At first let us have a look at the structures and types of the respiratory tract, grossly.
The respiratory tract divided into two parts:

1. Upper respiratory tract: Starting from the nasal aperture to the meeting point between the larynx and trachea. It consists of a nasal cavity, pharynx and larynx
2. Lower respiratory tract: Starting from the beginning of trachea to terminal air sacs. Trachea, bronchi and main lung parenchyma (which contains numerous tiny air sac called alveoli) are the parts of it.

Bronchitis is the infection of the bronchial tube and pneumonia is the infection of the tiny air sacs within the lung parenchyma. In the lower table, we can compare the symptoms of viral bronchitis and bacterial pneumonia .
