A simple trick on how to raise awareness of Steemit on other platforms such as Reddit
While we are upgrading the subreddit and adding some more usecases to it than just another way to do #postpromotion on it. I wanted to encourage users to start posting more links on Reddit in the relevant subreddits in general.
Lately I've been seeing a lot more posts linked in subreddits such as r/cryptocurrency and r/btc and that's a good sign. Every time one of those links gets a lot of upvotes and attention it brings awareness to the website and our currency. There was a time where there were some conspiracy theoris that some subreddits have shadow-banned links to Steemit all together, can't say I'm sure that r/bitcoin has not. :P
With more users here posting and sharing their Steemit links on other subreddits it is growing the SEO a lot and at the same time activity on the platform. As a way to encourage users to do this more, and not just on our subreddit r/steemit, I will shortly start to curate through these submissions and I hope other curators will start doing the same. If there are posts gathering a lot of views they should also be getting some more rewards depending on the content and knowing that these views have not been faked. A good way to find out how these posts are generating a lot of views which many here may not be aware of is this simple link:

Reddit has the option to filter posts by domain name, which makes it really easy for us to check for posts that have received a lot of views. As you can see from a quick glance, many of the popular subreddits with Steemit links on are r/cryptocurrency and r/conspiracy as the userbase on our censorship-resistant platform likes to post a lot about conspiracy theories and other information on other cryptocurrencies while making some rewards at the same time.
So while we currently only offer direct sharing to a few platforms such as these:
I urge users to share their links more on Reddit in the relevant subreddits. Some of them may have weird names on Reddit, but many are similar to the tags we use here as well. I will be regularly checking on posts through the domain link above that get some good attention and views from Reddit to curate them more fairly on Steemit.
Best part about this is that you will also increase your engagement to your posts both from comments here and on Reddit.

With coinmarketcap at a ridiculous traffic rank of #263 already and the Steem currency hovering around rank #30 it brings a lot of attention to our platform. Post comments, a bit long ones. Reddit doesn't like hi hello upvoted resteemed or small comments. We want your sub to have more visibility don't we?
Post some great articles you found on steemit. Don't just be a fool and post only your own posts. You can help bring more people to steemit!
Engagement is the most important thing. Go, have healthy conversations with others on the Sub!

No, don't do this! We need active discussion about Steemit's platform and meta information to attract users, not circle jerk. Barring that, post promotion /might/ be okay but only if (4) holds. But at that point I don't think people will comment in both places...
But, acidyo's suggestion about posting in other subreddits with more eyeballs will have more impact for link references anyway.

Guess we all have duties to promote our dear Steemit. I'd do my part to share on my social media pages. The little effort might be of great help to the community.
Steemit is still an infant as the internet was in 1994. There will be new Altavistas und Hotbots that draw people in. And they will disappear and by succeeded by things we still don't know. And then: there will be a time when people don't remember the time before Steemit.

Thank you @acidyo because in my latest post here @ackza i discuss this exact need to start posting steemit abd steem related lunks to reddit snd get thousand of steem users to all upvote it on REDDIT where the the upvotes wont get you paid but they are the only way to get your reddit post to the top ... so if we want to see a steemit post at the very top of steemit or even r/bitcoin we MUST work together to all upvote our steemit related reddit posts with tens of thousands of steemit users all upvoting the same reddit posts to the front page... and when we acomplish this brigadding we will OWN the reddit trending page since we will then have the estimated 20,000 to 50,000 upvotes needed to put up any link and keep it there... and we will get paid upvotes in comments section for showing our supoort on reddit but the important point is that we will have the 240 million users of reddit all focusing on this new steemit.com posts that we can propel out onto the FRONT PAGE ... that would promote steem to social media demographic that fits! Maybe its best ro promote steem to both bitcoin and crypto people but ALSO directly to the tens of millions of daily bloggers on wordpress and facebook instagram twitter and reddit. It makes a lot of ssnse that steemit inc just has to wait for new POW account creatiin which will be unlimuted and will notcost anyone anything ither than a minute or so of CPU power.. just for account creation.. this will remove our current bottleneck... millina will join.. hardfork20 will occur soon and we will have new official steemit app AND we get the communities feature very soon.. like having yiur own subreddit!
Sooo amazing that your finally getting the community at large to start postibg on reddit! There are many articles abiut "secret to reddit karma" which is almost the same as colldeting steempower but karma is not worth anuthing and you cant even transfer it around... Untill we are that popular we should not kid ourselves and we shoukd use reddit and instagram to promote steemit since reddit has 240 million and instagram over 1 BILLION users and just imagine .... inagine all the guides that teach people how to get karma on steem... just replace karma with steempower and the ssmd rules aplly to steem! In fact id bet every top reddit power user will end up being succesful on steem and we can even RECRUIT top reddit userd ro start using steem... same with yiutubers everything!
Anyeay i really apreciate these posts and i also paid $20 dor 2 days to run a steemit ad on reddit itself Xd Only 2 days before reddit took it doen for "ethical reasons ":p

You were pretty lucky then. At times people had to wait a week, or in some cases even more.. I think a lot of people don't really bother to check it out after having had to wait for this long.

Yeah, that's true, but I'm afraid that we still lose out on many potential members by this waiting period. However, the next proposed hardfork will take care of this issue ;)

That's a good idea as steemit is a good community to join and it provides better features and various community people. This is the biggest and most appropriate thing I like about It.

Reddit is one of the leading website. It can bring lots of traffic because it has huge user base.
The most important thing is it's a network of people who are connected because of same interest. The amount of engagement we get on Reddit is better than any other social media.

I'm waiting for it. I'm not tied to steemit.com, if busy, chainbb, zappl, steepshot, or whatever other frontend manages to filter steemit content by rep, post date, author SP and that kind of stuff, with the option to make lists (like on Twitter), I predict curation will become a LOT more popular.
I really have very much respect for all curators nowadays, I don't know how they do it, but I suspect the work is extremely tedious and difficult...
I think the perceived restrictions is to enable the community grow healthily stead..

Could be. Interesting hypothesis, but I don't think this is done on purpose. It's just the current situation.
Since curation is probably the number one most important thing here and most curators are just dying for more filtering tools, I can imagine it will come soon.
