Ugly Betty: Episode 2: The Box & The Bunny

in #show7 years ago

Show Recap:

Someone is out to get Betty and this time, they aren’t messing around. The show begins with Betty cheerfully moving her stuff back into the office. She brings in several items from home to personalize her desk, and one of them is her pink stuffed bunny.

Meanwhile Betty’s boss Daniel is having problems of his own. He keeps letting “The Book” out of his sight, and one night - on his way to a romantic tyrst with a girl who wants Betty’s job - leaves it on his desk. Betty takes it home with her to make sure it stays safe. She realizes that there are unretouched photos of a popular actress in it that can’t get out to the public.

The only problem is that Betty has some enemies, and at least one of them decides to steal the book and use it for blackmail. Betty is left to explain to Daniel. They also steal her pink bunny.

Last but not least, Wilhemina realizes that Daniel has lost “the book” and decides to use it to her advantage. After all, she is still desperate to be in his position.

Will Betty and Daniel get “The Book” back before it is leaked to the press? Will Daniel and Betty get fired for their carelessness? Will Wilhelmina win? I suggest you guys take the time to watch the episode, which is available to view on ABC.com to find out!

Review:

This was a cute, clever episode that solidified the rivalry situation going on in Mode Magazine. Wilhelmina is determined to take Daniel’s position and she will pull anything to accomplish it. Poor Betty, who is ever-cheerful and nice, is stomped on time and time again but somehow manages to pull through.

This episode was an interesting play on the “good versus evil” thing, with good winning out. Unrealistic perhaps, but fun to watch all the same.

There were some small little details that bothered me. For instance, it’s nearly impossible to email someone blackmail pictures and not get caught with today’s technology. Betty got a blackmail email about her bunny, and didn’t even try to figure out who it was. There were other little niggling details that snuck in that made me wonder why the writers didn’t try to tighten things up a bit more. (Note: make it more believeable!)

Overall, this was a fun episode and I am still eager to continue watching this show!
