You know, it is said that we have some of the deepest and craziest thoughts and ideas in the shower. And that's quite true. I have had some of my best and also some of the weirdest thoughts in the shower and I love having them.

One such thought (which is not new by any means) is, what if alien beings are already living among us and what could that mean for us? Also, is it even possible for something like that to happen without anyone noticing?

As far as we have looked, we've not even found evidence of microbial life on other planets, let alone intelligent beings. But the universe is so large and has existed for so long that those beings may exist out there and might even be so advanced that they know everything about us and living like spies on our planet!

Dwelling on this thought is like going down the rabbit hole, but one that I actually enjoy. So, let's talk about this and see where it leads us. Keep in mind though, I am not talking about a conspiracy or something. This is purely a thought experiment.

Aliens Among Us

So, given how much we have progressed over just the past century, I think it is safe to say that given a few millennia, a species can get to a ridiculously advanced stage, where they would be capable of almost anything, except breaking the laws of Physics of course.

Also, the universe is 13.8 billion years old and that is enough time for many different species to have formed and advanced in any time frame. Many could have died off and some could have survived. The point is, if there is a species out there even a few thousand years older than us, it would be exponentially more advanced than us.

It could be possible for them to observe us without us knowing, especially if they use communication tech that our instruments cannot detect. It would be like us observing fish in an aquarium from far away, without them knowing.

They could also live among us using masking technology that makes them seem like human beings, hiding their true form. This could also be used to make them sound like humans. I know this is something we only see in movies but really think about it. We could have this ability ourselves in the future, couldn't we?

As to what it could mean for us, well, that would depend totally on the alien beings and their purpose. If it was only to observe and learn about us, I guess there is really no harm. But if it was to colonise us and our planets, that would be a problem. But if they really wanted us gone, I think that would have happened by now. So, maybe they don't exist or are just waiting for something!
