Will you ask why I draw a woman with flowers in her eyes? if this post is about a flower.

What I want create are different flowers giving their name to these girls, I want to compose an illustration where I can show the beauty, subtlety, delicacy and elegance.

When I began to illustrate, my first sketches were about the human body, all the drawings I made were very feminine so when I began to illustrate faces I only made women, so I was inspired by what I have always liked to illustrate to make this composition.

DAHLIAS

  • Dahlia is a genus of plants belonging to the Asteraceae family.

  • On May 13, 1963, in the Official Gazette of the Nation (SAGAR, 1963), President Adolfo López Mateos issued a decree declaring the Dahlia as a symbol of National Floriculture.

  • The dahlia flower is a plant native to Mexico, according to some research was found for the first time south of the city in a town called Milpa Alta and has very particular characteristics that have placed it abroad as one of the most beautiful flowers and It is the only plant that has the highest number of varieties among all plant species, reaching more than 50 thousand register in the Royal Society of Horticulture of England.

  • In the years 1820 to 1830, dahlias were fashionable and their prices rose considerably. The specialists soon cataloged them with the category of "decorative flower". Everyone wanted to have dahlias in their garden.

Making Dahlia:

I needed the following materials for the creation:

  • Mechanical Pencils.
  • HB, 2B, 4B, 6B Leads.
  • Charcoal Pencil.
  • Color Pencils. (Prismacolor)
  • Moldable Eraser.
  • Brush.
  • A4 Opaline 135G.

THE PROCESS:

  • Firstly I made the sketch, once ready I started illustrating the neck, everything was done with charcoal and blending with the brush, it is a dark area and I played with the tones.

  • With the HB pencil fill the face to give the base of the skin tone, then promulce the cheekbones to give volume focusing the light to the left side of the face, therefore, shadows go to the right side.

  • To illustrate the lips use a 0.5mm mechanical pencil, this is because I wanted the face to be seen throwing a kiss, for this the lip is pressed a little and the details are minimal, so with this pencil i can made this.
  • To make the lips shine, I used the moldable eraser and made a light effect that I had not used before and to tell the truth, I loved it.
Then pronounce more the face and detail part of the nose with the charcoal.

  • Illustrate the nose giving light in the center and shading a little more to the right.
  • Until this part arrived with the graphite, I needed to start painting the flowers to be able to advance with the shadows of the face, so, I began to paint purple Dahlias.

This image will be a little larger, so you can see that with the charcoal diffused with the brush towards the shadows of the flowers and then color them on top. (His lips fascinate me and this photo is also my favorite!)

  • I colored the flowers with blue, purple and pink tones. Degrading these colors I could make a great effect, I also used some greens for the center of the flower along with some orange details.
In the same way I colored the left flower.

This girl has fallen in love with me and I can not see her eyes!

As the illustrious to the right side I wanted to add some petals falling, also illustrious part of the hair with charcoal.

... And this is the Final Art:

The reason why this became my favorite flower, is because on his lips pronounced and I did some effects that I had not done before, this was done at once to be able to highlight a lot of the rot, since it is a simple face and would normally be opaque with the colors of the flowers. Simply I loved it!
