WELCOME TO THE WEDDING BOARD

Hash + Jason

Hello there everyone! I know I've been MIA again lately but I've really been busy with all the wedding preps I need to finish. I wasn't able to do it last Friday because I also had an important matter to attend to.

Anyway, I'll be making a separate post as to why I was busy these past few days aside from making all these wedding props.

So, for this post, I'll be showing you how I did one of the welcome boards for the wedding of my close friends Hash and Jason which I made for one night only.

Hash and Jason, who got engaged yesterday and will be tying the knot this Wednesday, asked me to do their welcome board. Hash provided me with all the materials I needed and she personally chose everything from the font type to the design.

Once I have the necessary materials, I then started to make their board.

MATERIALS NEEDED

MAKING OF THE BOARD

This was the picture Hash sent me as my guide for their board. She wanted it to be as simple as possible. (Photo not mine. Source: Pinterest)

Having seen this guide, I started making a rough sketch to the multi-purpose board. I wrote the phrase "WELCOME TO THE WEDDING OF" at the top-most part of it measuring only about an inch and a centimeter thick in a type font.

After the first phrase, I then added their names below it. Initially, I followed how their names were written in their invitation.

Before painting the sketch I made, I sent it first to Hash for her approval. The moment she saw their names, she asked me to change it to my usual calligraphy style because she felt she got fed up with her own handwriting as she can see it everyday and during their wedding preparations. So without delay, I sent her a sample of my usual cursive calligraphy style.

Without hesitation, she agreed to have it as the final font for their names. I erased my initial sketch and changed it with the new one.

After having all the writing in place, I then started painting it with the white poster paint using my size 2 & 3 brushes. I slightly mixed the paint with a few drops of water to make it a lot easier to be spread out during painting.

As you can see, I used a different brush this time. I got used to my Craftdoodle water brush as it's a lot convenient and more controllable than the usual brushes. I used the small-sized brush by the way.

I actually used faux calligraphy for this one. I first made the thin lines of their names then I made the downward lines thicker by filling it in.

This was me being busy with the board taken by @jveronica.

After making all the thicker lines, this was then the final output.
