Today's Weed News For October 12th 2018 #BIGTOBACCO

For today's weed news we go to Altria Group Inc.

As a teenager smoking weed in the 90s, I used to wonder about what the world would be like if Marlboro sold joints.

Well... now it seems like I might be about to find out.

That is because Altria Group Inc, the company that owns Philip Morris, the makers of Marlboros, met this week with a Canadian company called Aphria Inc., who specialize in low-cost cannabis production.

Aphria Inc. is known in the industry for producing cannabis at a cost of less than a buck per gram! So that's about $450 a pound and a grand per kilo.

During their meeting, the Virginia-based tobacco giant discussed purchasing a minority share of Aphria Inc stock. experts believe that the tobacco company plans to keep buying, chunck by chunck, until they eventually control the majority of Aphria Inc stock.

This move comes after two major alcohol conglomerates, Molson Coors Brewing Company and Constellation Brands Inc unannounced that they were going to be working with Canadian cannabis companies as well.

"Big consumer companies are increasingly looking to forge alliances with cannabis Growers, which is helping fuel a frenzy and driving stock prices higher as Canada prepares for the legalization of recreational marijuana next Wednesday," wrote the Globe and Mail.

To me, all of this signifies that the cannabis revolution is only going to get bigger. Why else would huge tobacco with huge alcohol companies be talking numbers with cannabis growers?

You know they have teams and teams of researchers and market analysts who crunch numbers for a living telling them if it is a financially viable investment or not.

I feel like we are on the cusp of something monumental and it's going to make a lot of people a lot of money.

Let's just hope they don't start adding addictive poisons to their cannabis products like they did with tobacco. Cuz really what's stopping them?
