Below is a description of my thoughts from the beginning of Steemit, through the end of the process in @sndbox.

Introduction

I was introduced to @sndbox through @design-guy. I had met one of the founders previously and they both thought I could add my creative voice to the Steemit community.

Learning Curve

---

I never realized what learning curve there was (and I have now surpassed a great deal of it). From Programming basic HTML, markdown, blog writing / formatting, writing about my process (never had to do), using the right tags and making sure I'm copying the post I made per day on the sndbox slack, interfacing with other users when there's no private messaging system, blocktrades, steemauto, streemian, all these sorts of tools, discord, telegram, and all different cryptocurrency wallets.

Oh, and what's this with a rewards pool? I see people getting $1,000 votes and I am getting like $15. Which is really good by the way.

Only 7 Days of Earning

I found out that after your post was up for 7 days, it no longer earned from it. I initially thought that we would be earning perpetually from each post almost as a residual over time. But I guess if it were that way, maybe over time we would be owing the rewards pool vs receiving.

The Ups and Downs

It turns out that I initially thought, this is cool Steem Dollars are supposed to be pegged to $1 USD relatively. When I joined it was actually slightly below the value of $1 USD. Over time I began to realize that pegged means relative to the STEEM and Steem Dollar market purchases as well. At first I had began to get into crypto-currencies, and didn't connect that you were earning them here until I did my first transfer to Bittrex.

Sndbox Experience

Sndbox was overwhelmingly welcoming, and patient with my million questions about how to do this and that, where to find this and that. I didn't even understand how to search for basic things like photography posts on Steemit, but these guys were the go to support system. The general chat allowed me to interface with other Steemians that had experience prior to the incubator. I was initially confused that sndbox was voting me so low for some posts and so high for others. Even when one post had more writing, or more photos, but I began to find that part of that was actually do to the market.

The Ocean

Whales, minnows, dolphins, krill, or whatever else there is. I have found that since I started, the value of Steem to make a whale vs now has changed. It doesn't feel like there are many predators in this ocean, and it feels like we're all feeding eachother.

Sndbox is not a Buying Vote System

There have been some questions about this in the past. But sndbox is NOT a system to buy votes. In fact, if you wanted to do that there are other systems that will earn you much more and you won't have to follow any general rules to get their vote other than pay. @sndbox is different. Here's the gold mine that you maybe haven't discovered it's value.

I mentioned above about how they have helped answer questions. I have also gotten several projects running and ideas of mine flowing that otherwise honestly wouldn't have started due to lack of funding, and motivation from the community.

Curation for @sndbox-alpha

It was amazing to have the experience with some colleagues to do curation for a month on @sndbox-alpha. We were in charge of Music and Art curation in the Steemit community. It was a pleasure that @sndbox entrusted in us the ability to find these posts and write about them.

All in all it was a fantastic experience and I would do it all again if it so happened. I met so many valuable connections and friends, and today have many projects that I will continue post-sndbox.
