The Linux operating system is not completely immune to computer viruses. In fact, no operating system is, as long as it is connected to a network. However, when compared to the Windows operating system, the Linus OS can be regarded as immune since it is not as prone to computer viruses as the Windows OS is.

Computer viruses are basically written codes that replicates themselves and sometimes causes destruction of users files or maliciously steals sensitive information from users. Viruses are spread in multiple ways and are of several forms such as Spyware, Adware, and Malware. Each has its form of transmission on one's personal computer, but most of the codes in these viruses are usually written specifically for machines with Windows OS installed on them. Hence, these viruses become useless when transmitted on a system with the Linus OS.

The Linus OS surely has viruses written for the operating system but in very minimal number. Also as an open source project, it's even possible the downloaded distribution from some source already has malicious softwares embedded in the system. So in conclusion, the Linux OS is not immune to computer viruses.
