Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!

Every tuesday at 8pm @socalsteemit is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.

Last Nights Visiting Hour

In the last SoCal Visiting Hour we just had @mariannewest and myself (@derekrichardson) join the conversation. Now, I love talking with Marianne don't get me wrong, but the more people come to chat the funner it is! So if you've been thinking about joining the chat, stop thinking about it and come join in the fun!! Don't be shy, we're all nice people here in SoCal Steemit! And if there is a different time/day that works better for you let us know and we can try to find the optimal time to be able to include the most people.

This week started out with me once again having audio problems... I thought I had it setup properly, but then Marianne told me I sounded like a chewing hampster making alien noises! After a few minutes of checking settings and unplugging and replugging my mic, I finally got it working well enough.

Once I was audible we began by talking about the DTube snap that @csusbgeochem1 posted from Cerro Gordo last week and how it got a real nice payout. So we're hoping to get him doing more of those.

Next I told Marianne about all the fun times at the last meetup at the Taco Surf in Surfside,CA. Big shoutout to @steemseph and @steelparade for that great meetup! Also we talked about the next upcoming thanksgaming meetup being hosted by @improv and @stinawog on Nov. 16th. Both Marianne and myself plan to be there! If you're interested in attending you can see all the details here.

We discussed the recent progress of the community. We are slowly seeing more participation and higher post payouts. I think slow steady growth is fine, we just need to stay active and engaged. And continue looking for ways to improve. Considering Steemit use in general has been getting pretty slow and lots of people are completely disappearing from the platform, we think we're actually doing pretty good!

We ended by talking a bit about Steemfest which is currently going on in Kraków, Poland as well as some of the other Steem conferences coming up that are going to be a bit closer to us! The upcoming Steem Creators Conference hosted by @steemcafe on April 10-14 in Austin, TX. As well as the Steemerica conference being hosted by @sircork in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Big thanks to everyone who participated in this weeks discussion it was fun as always!!

Next Tuesday

In next Tuesdays SoCal Visiting Hour we'd like to do some kind of "introduce yourself " or "team building" exercises. One I had in mind was 'Two truths, one lie'. So each person tells two truths and one lie about themselves and then everyone guesses which one is the lie. It's a fun way to get to learn new things about each other. So come ready with your truths and lie! Also if you have a post of yours you'd like to share with the group, or someone else's post that you think would be interesting to share, we'd love to have you bring it and tell us all about it! Beyond that the floor is open to anything else any members would like to bring up and discuss!

So again, it's tuesday at 8pm in the SoCal Steemit Discord server. If you are not equipped to voice chat or are a bit intimidated to get on a mic, feel free to come listen to the chat and communicate with the group through the corresponding text channel. We'd love to have everyone come join the conversation!!
