A brief introduction to absurdity

in #society6 years ago (edited)

We live in a global reality show. Society today is broken and absurd. All the necessities of life – air, food, water, love, sex, self worth, etc have been taken away and sold back to us, tainted and corrupted.

We are not free. We are slaves, to debt, fear and ‘normality’. We have lost touch with nature, with our souls and our friends and neighbours.

We gather in the glory of large cities, yet spend huge amounts of time and money to get away from it for privacy. We gather in communities but build tall fences in between us and padlock everything.

It is absurd to live one’s life for the weekend; to wake to an alarm, commute for an hour to a cubicle somewhere with a phone and keyboard for 8 hours, then back home for take away dinner and TV. For 45 or so years!

It is absurd to have multiple competing entities each produce a low quality product, as cheaply as possible, instead of all cooperating to produce a great product. How is that efficient and/or sustainable?

It is absurd to knowingly and deliberately poison one self and pollute the biosphere, but in today's lifestyle it is a common and everyday thing.

When you 'wake up', by studying this absurd reality to figure out how and why it has come to be, many more absurdities open up, and you discover that much (most?) of what you 'know' is wrong. Along the way you will hopefully discover the elegant beauty of nature and all living things, and appreciate mother earth ever more.

Along the way to will also find most people with their head in the sand, complacent in the sea of absurdity, living in fear and debt but having a large TV and luxurious car to make it all OK.

This will bring great conflict, and requires patience, bravery and a strong will to get through.

When this happens to a young person, often in the latter years of high school, it is absolutely destructive. They have no experience to call upon, and generally no one to talk to. The 'system' has been designed to self-police and so these free thinkers are shunned, given medications and punished for their outrageous thoughts.

Enough for now, this is just an introduction.
