Songwriting Challenge-Week #2, "Love Lost" by songwriter Morgan Washam

For week number two of the songwriting challenge, I chose to stay with a theme that has been predominant in my life throughout the past month, losing love. Therefore, this week's song is appropriately titled, "Love Lost" The song is in the traditional vein of the old time murder ballad. https://soundcloud.com/morganwasham/love-lost-live

As I began exploring where I wanted this tune to go, I quickly decided that it should be a male/female duet. The first verse is written for the male perspective/voice. Each chorus is designed to be sung with both male and female voicing together in harmony. The second verse is written for the female voice perspective. When you listen to the recording, you will hear only my voice. Unfortunately, I feel the song loses a little of its enchantment due to this. However, I plan on re-recording this with a female vocalist duet for my next full album release.

Also, you can hear a break/bridge after the second chorus. This may include a fiddle or mandolin when fully produced. The final verse has been written to be split between both male and female voices. The culminating line of the song is designed to leave the listener to decide for themselves as to what ultimately happens in this old time folk ballad of "Love Lost".
