Berlin sound goes around the world

For my fellow music addicts this weekend some Dance stuff as a late fit to Techno Friday & Dance Weekend some sets from a young Berlin lady called Maayan Nidam. She produces tunes in her won studio and plays on stage and in clubs around the continent. Her DJ style is mainly based in stripped-back and deep sounds. She is experimenting a lot in her studio to find out new unpredictable sounds by generating chain reactions between drums, synths, guitar pedals, and other acoustic instruments.

She is not new to the scene though - started producing in Tel Aviv 1999 already and became popular under her alter ego "Miss Fitz" back in 2006 and has since then created a good awareness in the global house and techno scene. She is playing everywhere in the world and has her special dedicated style. She went through a long period of transition in the last years having spending time in various places and cultures of the world including an extended break in Vietnam where she played the opening edition of Epizode festival. It was an exciting and challenging time for her it seems. Let me know what you think about her music.

The diversity of Mayaan’s sound is no doubt a result of an unusually global upbringing. Born in Tel Aviv, she lived in the Mediterranean city for most of her life, studying multimedia and, following a six-month stay in New York, beginning to DJ bars and small parties. Tel Aviv isn’t a big place, though, and so when Maayan came to feel that she had hit a wall in her home town, she packed her bags and set off to travel The World. Argentina was her ultimate destination. But after a six-month stint in Amsterdam, she found her way to Berlin/">Berlin, which turned out to be exactly she was looking for. Inspiration was everywhere, from the avant-garde Club Transmediale festival to Jamie Lidell’s experiments in live sampling to, of course, the city’s legendary underground party scene. She soaked up everything, building up her studio and experimenting with different sounds and processes, gradually inching towards the dance floor. Seven years later, she remains in Berlin, making music and molding the contours of the city’s clubs to fit her own inimitable vision.
