Este retrato pintado al pastel fue el primero que realicé con esta técnica de pintura.
El pastel son unas tizas de colores compuestas de pigmentos puros. Si a estos pigmentos se le añade aceite, se convierte en pintura al óleo.
En 2007 estuve realizando mis estudios de Ilustración Publicitaria en la Escuela de Arte Fernándo Estévez en Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Uno de los proyectos que se nos encargó a los estudiantes fue un retrato al pastel.
Tardé aproximadamente unas 20 horas en terminar este retrato de mi madrina y tía a la que llamo Tía Sila. A lo largo de mi vida he hecho varios retratros con esta técnica que han gustado mucho.

This pastel painted portrait was the first I made with this painting technique.
The pastel are colored chalk composed of pure pigments. If oil is added to these pigments, it becomes oil paint.
In 2007 I was doing my studies in Advertising Illustration at the Fernándo Estévez Art School in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. One of the projects that the students were commissioned was a pastel portrait.
It took approximately 20 hours to finish this portrait of my godmother and aunt whom I call Aunt Sila.
