El argentino Ricardo Gareca ha renovado contrato, por tres años, con la selección de Perú y acaba con la ola de rumores que lo desvinculaban del seleccionado inca.

La contratación de Gareca lleva al DT por lo menos hasta el 2021, con lo que cubriría toda la fase premundialista y ante una hipotética clasificación de Perú a Qatar 2022, queda sobreentendida la extensión automática del contrato por un año más hasta la fiscalización del Mundial.
