Spanish police stop the "Bitcoin Band" that stabbed a man and stole a local exchange

The arrested men carried 90,000 euros in cash and also kept the same amount in Bitcoin product of an exchange.

The Spanish National Police arrested two men who allegedly stabbed a young man on August 20 in Tetouan, a district of Madrid. The ABC media informed that the clarification of the facts was possible after the detainees committed a robbery with violence in an establishment of monetary transactions, which allowed to relate them to the aggression. At the time of the arrest, the so-called "Bitcoin Band" had 90,000 euros in cash and reported having the same amount in Bitcoin.

The capture of the subjects occurred on August 27. As detailed by ABC, the criminals wanted to make a transaction in an exchange in which they intended to deliver cash to invest in cryptocurrencies. They had a mobile device for crypto storage. Once the transfer was made by the agency, the two men assaulted the local employees in order to recover the cash they had invested and keep both: cash and Bitcoin. At the moment they left the place, the police detained and arrested them.

After the arrest, the police confirmed that the detainees had the same characteristics as the perpetrators of the stabbing. Once their identities and participation in the aggression were confirmed, they were charged with two crimes: the first one for attempted homicide and the second one for robbery with violence.
