If soap is supposed to make things clean, why does the soap dish get so dirty? The pure soap is contained in a tray. Water and other elements end up in that same tray. Perhaps that is the practical answer. But let's explore deeper into this as it applies to our own life.

Water represents the cleansing blood of Christ. Soap represents the blood of Jesus in us. We are the soap. The dish however is the sinful world we must live in. Like the soap, the grace that God gives us can cleanse and purify without being tarnished in an impure world. Yet the would needs His cleansing to remain good. Without the water a soap scum builds up. So too in our lives. We become scummy with sin without his grace to pour over us and cleanse us. We clean our soap dish. So too God cleanses our world.

Applying The Soap

How is your world? How are you. Do you have a build up of soap film that makes you feel scummy? Do you need His forgiving grace to pour over you? Consider a daily relationship with Christ to help keep you free from the grimy build up that life brings.

Romans 12:2 says, 'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.' If the world keeps you from being your spiritual best, consider a life apart from the soap dish. Know to keep clean when in the world. Allow yourself through God to help cleanse the world, rather than be spiritually affected by its impurities.

Life's Examples

It amazes me how in life there are countless examples of God and his plan for us. The soap dish is only one small example. Perhaps you can think of others. You can share and teach these to others and touch their life.

Why do I iron with an iron, vacuum with a vacuum, mop with a mop, but 'sweep' with a broom ? Perhaps that can be left for another blog.
