Yes! The long awaited fixtures begins today. Four teams will be playing in few hours time while the other four will play tomorrow. Today's fixtures is our bone of contention. Liverpool will be playing against Porto in Arnfield, while Tottenham will be welcoming Manchester City to their new stadium. Awesome, right? Of course! Both matches will be played in England; they have four teams in the competition, so let's watch out for them.

Liverpool vs Porto

The last time these two met was last season. A 5-0 from Liverpool saw them to the next stage. Let's hope Porto stand a chance this time around. Just so you know, Porto has never won a match against Liverpool. They've drawn only three leaving Liverpool to win the rest. It's an awful record that needs to be destroyed. I'm sure Porto will be coming with a different spirit today, but do they have what it takes to eliminate Liverpool?

Liverpool were in the final last season. They did all they could to win the trophy, but Real Madrid were the better side. Now that the defending champions are gone, they might win the title. Well, all odds are against Porto. Only a miracle can save them from Liverpool, but this is football! Anything can happen.

Tottenham vs Manchester City

Tottenham just opened their new stadium and they haven't tasted defeat there. They would do all they can to stop Manchester City from defeating them there. These two teams have met countless times, so they know their strengths and weakness. This is one of the matches that is balanced. Manchester City is the favorite to win though, but Tottenham is also a very strong side. They shouldn't be underrated.

Both teams still have a match to play in the EPL. The fate of Tottenham's top four spot and Manchester City's chances of winning the league depends on it, but that aside, the champions league is bigger than both considerations. So they will take this match more seriously. Guardiola hasn't won the competition since he left Barcelona and Pochetino has never passed this stage. We will find out who will emerge as winner next week perhaps.
