Highest-paid athletes: Barça, Paris SG and Real Madrid in NBA dominated Top 10
Only Barcelona, Paris SG and Real Madrid spoil the monopoly of NBA teams in the top 10 of the highest sports salaries in the world.
According to the Global Sports Salaries Survey 2017, the two major Spanish football clubs and the "queen" of the last transfer campaign are ranked 4th, 5th and 9th respectively in a classification dominated by American basketball teams (with 17 teams in Top 20).
In the first place is the Oklahoma City Thunder (with an average yearly salary of 8.5 million euros per player average), Cleveland Cavaliers (7.6 million) and Golden State Warriors (7.5 million).
In fourth place is Barcelona, which will likely climb next year, following the renewal of Leo Messi's contract with € 8,048 million, ahead of Neymar's Paris SG by € 7,896 million (before Neymar's transfer was ranked 35th). Followed by Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers, ahead of Real Madrid instead of 9 (7.594 million) of New Orleans Pelicans.
Other football clubs are ranked number 23 and 24, with Manchester United (6.34m) and Manchester City (6,387m). Bayern Munchen is ranked 27th (6,324m), while the best ranked italian club is Juventus, 32nd on the list with an average salary of 5,921m.
It´s well known fact that nba players are always in these top lists. I am surprised that Oklahoma is first and Cavaliers second. Cavaliers players are so overpaid in my opinion and their salary cap is always full.

In fact NBA is why we have had overpayed football players in Europe in the first place. They took it as a bussines model and that's what's killing the sport. But that's another story.
