Onboard rally video of the day - Duval on Rally Germany with Ford Focus WRC

Belgium driver Francois Duval is the one of my favorite drivers from the past decade with only one win and that was on the gravel on Rally Australia. He drove for the Citroen works team in only season with the team.

To say a few words about his starts in the World Rally Championship. He started with the Ford works team as a new talent after some promising results with their Junior WRC car Ford Puma Super 1600. He was never Junior World Rally Champ as Loeb, Ogier or Sordo but he showed some speed and that was enough to have a seat in the top WRC category as a 3rd driver in the team.

I remember his first days with his co-driver Jean-Marc Fortin (now in the Cross Country rallies as a team boss) and some offs when Malcolm Wilson, team boss of Ford M-Sport, decided to change a co-driver for Duval.

They took another Belgium Stephane Prevot who used to co-drive for Bruno Thierry. prevot was too scared for Duval as he was known as a very fast but his crashes were far from light accidents. Once Prevot finished in the hospital after they hit a telegraph post at Monte Carlo Rallye 2005 chasing Loeb who was in the lead and won that rally later.

In the middle of that season Prevot left the co-driver's seat and Smeets, ex Loix's co-driver, took the duties. They won Rally Australia later and that was it for Duval when we talk about full season outings.

He had some outings with Ford as a 3rd car and he was always quicker then their 2nd driver Latvala, especially in Germany as we can see the pure speed from the video.
