Rally cars - Citroen Saxo Super 1600 (kit car)

in #sport6 years ago

Hi, Steemers!

I should say that whole Super 1600 era in the Junior World Rally Championship started successfully with that car.

I saw that car for the first time in the late nineties when late Bugalski drove it on the Monte Carlo Rally alongside with Spaniard Jesus Puras.

In those days that car was called kit car because when you bought it, the car was in parts and you had to assemble it by yourself.

Later, in 2001, Junior World Rally Championship started and that was only for the Super 1600 cars and from that moment, Citroen Saxo was called Saxo Super 1600 and not kit car anymore.

Oh, what a beauty of the car it was when I saw it for the first time on the rally stages. Beautiful handling with the screaming engine up to 8500rpm and the engine was 1.6 atmospheric.

Power of the engine was around 220bhp. Great car it was for sure.

Price of the car now is around 50000€ for a good car and in good shape.

There was only one car I liked more, and it was Renault Clio Super 1600.
