Vatanen jr with Stephane Sarrazin's R5 car after long time outside top WRC level

in #sport6 years ago

Hi, Steemers!

Ari Vatanen was a big World Rally Championship star with a lots of success as a World Rally Champion (David Richards, a chairman of Prodrive was his co-driver at that time) and with lots of wins at the highest level of the sport.

History sometimes shows that sons of very successful parents can also be successful (as we saw that Nico Rosberg became a World Champ in Formula 1) and in some cases we see a different scenario like we had with Max Vatanen, a son of ex World Rally Champ Ari.

I remember, now almost a decade ago, that father pulled some connections to bring his son a works Fiat drive when they had Grande Punto S2000 in Intercontinental Rally Challenge and some national championships with the factory support.

Max didn't have bigger success and he lost his drive.

Vatanen family had two choices at that moment: to pay their son a drive with around seven figure numbers to bring him at the top level in WRC or to stay in lower classes which what they choose.

Last five years I din't hear much news around Max Vatanen except that he was driving DMACK Fiesta cup but he didn't become a champ so nobody cared.

Now Vatanen jr has a new opportunity with Stephane Sarrazin's team, and just to remind you: Sarrazin has a contract with Hyundai works team to run their official R5 program.

I still don't know if this is Hyundai's official entry but I doubt that. Anyone can rent the car from that team and that would be it in my opinion.

Let the best win - as always...
