Blitzbokke bo!

in #sport6 years ago

It seems South Africa has the upper hand on the English rugby teams. The English must not like us too much at the moment, and we know how that feels. It seemed like every time we played Fiji in the 7's format they had the ability to beat us.
Similarly the All Blacks (although they beat everyone these days).

Paris, the final 7's tournament at the end of a great season. Fiji were 7 points ahead on the overall ladder, and they seemed sure in for the trophy.
The only way for SA to have a sniff at the trophy was for Fiji to be beaten in the Quarter finals against England. Before then however, it seemed that the Blitzbokke didn't harbour too many hopes of Fiji coming undone against their rivals, and day 1 South Africa were sloppy and unclinical. Losing to Scotland and almost losing to Spain! Their whole season could have been undone with that loss!
BUT they pulled through and were pleasantly surprised by England doing them a HUGE favour and beating Fiji.

It was all their hands now, and suddenly the 'real Blitbokke' stood up, injuries and all, to take control of the rest of the tournament. They needed to win the Paris comp to remain world series champions.
Beginning of the weekend I would not have believed it possible with how the Fijians were on fire. They must be gutted.

Take a look at the finals highlights. Enjoy

And they did it!

So proud of what they accomplished! And after the English vs Bokke testmatch, we had a very good weekend for South African rugby.

Proud supporter of SA rugby!

We are finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel! Our Rugby has been so pathetic for a while, glad it is looking better!

Yes I agree fully! I hope they keep it going, because there were signs of change before but it retrogressed again.
I think till people feel secure mentally it affects everything.
