Hello friends of Steemit and football lovers, I hope you are well and that all your investments will multiply. It was on November 30, 1872, in this city located west of the Scottish Lowlands, between the host country and England. Many stories are told about the first game, but they all agree that it was on a cricket pitch where it was played.
Both countries were represented by players from each of them, with the difference that Scotland did not select players active in the same country, but those who played at Queen's Park, one of the main English football clubs at the time, so they would understand their opponents better and play in a balanced way. While the England national team called its players from 9 clubs in the country.

For that year there was no football league in England (Premier League) but the FA Cup. While in Scotland no cups were played, only until the following year.

Lions Duel

Scotland's uniform was the traditional dark blue color, which matched that of Queen's Park and a lion on its shield. While England's was white with three lions on the chest of his shirt.
This historic duel attracted the attention of many people, some 4,000 people are said to have attended. The cost of tickets for the meeting was 1 shilling at the time, about $5 today.

90 minutes without problems

The referee for this match was William Keay from Scotland, who was 20 minutes late for the opening whistle.

The match went calmly, reflecting a friendly character, as they refrained from strong entries. Although shin guards were not in use at the time, no player was injured.

The line-ups were very particular. Scotland played with a 2-2-6, while England implemented a 1-1-8.

I know you're thinking what I'm thinking. Three defenders, three midfielders and 14 strikers?

Yes, because at the time, tactics or strategies like those of today were not implemented. Including the controversy and lack of ethics as a professional player.

Substitutions were not allowed at the time, although England goalkeeper Robert Barker and striker William John Maynard changed their positions in the second half.

To the sadness of many, the offensive tactics did not bear fruit as the final result was equal to 0. This scoreboard was not repeated in subsequent matches until 1970.

Many are those who can say that they played a professional football match between nations, others boast of having won a world cup, but none of them will feel as fortunate as those who played the first international match, that although there were no goals will be marked for history that you can play a very offensive match without infractions or aggressions between their players.
