Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns Makes History - by @voiceofreason
If you were busy doing just about anything else this weekend in the United States, you likely missed another historic milestone.
Again, this one was achieved by the 21 year old from the Phoenix Suns.
Yes, this is the same quasi teenager that hung 70 points in Boston Garden, the youngest ever to score more than 60 points in a game.
Anyways, on Saturday Night the NBA held its annual All Star Weekend.
The event starts off with the Rookie Game on Friday night, which is then followed by skills challenges on Saturday night, and then finally the event is punctuated by the All Star Game on Sunday night.
For this post, I'd like to focus in on the events held on Saturday night.
Specifically, the 3 point contest.
This is always the second best event of the festivities on Saturday night, and in recent years has even been the best event in terms of excitement.
This year would be no different.
Devin Booker was one of the favorites in the contest, but was well behind a previous winner in Klay Thompson.
However, he showed that the experts had it all wrong.
Not only did he end up winning the event, but he did so in record setting fashion.

He scored the most points ever in the contest with 28.
He might have even been the youngest winner ever, but I will need to check a few more sources on that one.
As a long time basketball fan, I look forward to watching this guy grow and mature.
I just hope his team out there can eventually put some talent around him as the suns have been perennial bottom dwellers for about 8 years now.
I have a feeling that is about to change.
He is an awesome shooter but i dont like the game of phoenix suns, no defence and no strategy in game and that is resoulte on leaderboard! :/

Although it is true Booker posted the highest score ever in a 3pt contest, this is after the NBA changed the rules where contestants can have an entire 'money ball' rack, thus increasing the max score from 30 to 34 I believe.
Also, Booker was +600 to win the 3pt contest. Great odds...

Great post! I am also very impressed by his game. He needs to improve his defensive side and maybe add some extra moves into his game. Otherwise he is very promising young player and i am looking forward to see him do great stuff.

Devon has a very bright future! A natural scorer and the ability to create for himself, he will be an ALL STAR for many years to come. Let's hope the Phoenix Suns can build a winning team so he can flourish even more!
Booker is a great young player, followed him in college at Kentucky. Suns need to get some talent around him though. The West is so tough, might still be few years before they can get some more talent around him.
Booker is one of my favorite young stars in the making, glad he is continuing to develop and keeping a level head even though his team isn't as successful as he might hope. Nonetheless he will certainly become a superstar if he continues along this trajectory. Would love to have hime on my hometown Chicago Bulls, him and Lavine would be a solid big guard tandem.
