Baseball Hall of Fame Voting

January 24, 2018-

Today the Baseball Writers' Association of America released their vote for the MLB Hall of Fame. Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Vladimir Guerrero and Trevor Hoffman will be enshrined into the baseball hall of fame. Needing 317 votes out of the 422 ballots first time ballot members Jones (97.2%) and Thome (89.8) easily made the hall. On the ballot for the second time Vladimir Guerrero (92.9) also was an easy vote for the hall. Trevor Hoffman at (79.9) was on the ballot for the third time. With both Jones and Thome being voted in we now have 54 first time ballot hall of fame players. Falling short again for the ninth time Edgar Martinez of the Mariners was 20 votes shy this year and next year will be his last year of eligibility.
