In Case You Missed It

1+1+1+1=0: The first game played in Mexico since 1999 turned out to be historic as the Los Angeles Dodgers no hit the San Diego Padres 4-0. Rookie prospect Walker Buehler gave up 3 walks but no hits over the first six innings followed but shutout innings from Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia and Adam Liberatore. It was the 12thcombined no hitter in MLB history and the 23rdby the Dodgers, most by any club. Friday’s combined no-no was the second of the season.

Substance Abuse?: A week after being accused of using a foreign substance to get a better grip on the ball and better spin rate for strikeouts, Gerrit Cole dominated one of the best teams in the league, the Arizona Diamondbacks, to the tune of 16 strike outs, 1 hit and 0 runs over 9 innings. This fanned the flames of what Trevor Bauer said earlier in the week. Cole was the ace of the Pirates staff before the Astros trade but he was never this good. The Astros won 8-0.

Darkness for the Knight: The symbol of Mets hope and return to respectability, Matt Harvey was designated for assignment on Friday. The young pitcher who led the Mets out of the dark Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme days and led the improbable Mets to a NL pennant in 2015 was designated after refusing a minor league assignment. Injuries and arrogance sapped Harvey from reaching his full potential with the Mets. It will be a tough road back if we are ever to see the Dark Knight again.

Leading the Way: Since 1977, the main gates to Fenway Park had resided on Yawkey Way; 4 Yawkey Way was the address for the park. It symbolized the leadership of Tom Yawkey, the owner of the Red Sox from 1933 to 1976. Allegations of racism have led the city to change the name back to the original name of Jersey Street. Turns out the Tom Yawkey wasn’t the man everyone in Boston believed him to be. Tom Yawkey was a racist who resisted the changing of the times and wouldn’t sign black players. Under his watch, the club was the last to sign a black player to the major leagues.

Decline of Harvey has been sad to watch. Seems like both a physical and mental thing at this point - wondering if he a team reset will help him out. Can always come to my Rangers since we're just collecting over the hill pitchers in need for image repair...

I'm so sick of hearing about Matt Harvey. Dude is a bum and just has no respect.

Interested to see how the whole thing with the Astros will play out. Their pitchers are excruciatingly dominating so it leaves one to wonder. Much like the long ball hitters of the McGwire/Sosa era.

I see you as an individual excellent work boss @writesbackwards, you have been so good and well calculative view in you sir..

Baseball. What a nice game of thrill this is. This is the sport which requires alot of strength and trchnique inorder to provide a breakthrough.

It was a great day without a doubt the Padres played in Mexico and they were able to defeat the fearsome dodgers, excellent greetings and thanks

As easy as it is to hate on Matt Harvey, it would be THE MOST Mets thing for him to leave them, and become the superstar Ace he was destined to be. The Mets have the worst luck.
