Should QB Drew Lock play in 2019?

Denver Broncos fans got the first news on the status of QB Drew Lock’s injury to his thumb. Lock says he is pain free but seemed cautious to speak on his timetable for retuning because he’s not sure what the Broncos brass has planned for him this year. Should the Broncos just sandbag Lock until next year or should they bring him off the injured reserve after week 6 and give him a roster spot?

To me it all comes down to the Broncos record and how well current QB Joe Flacco has lead the team until that point. In my opinion, Flacco has actually played pretty well and has delivered us the level of play we were expecting. Sure he could be better and sure we could easily be 2-2 right now but, you are what you are in the NFL and the Broncos are 0-4.

If the Broncos are 2-6 or worse after week 8 and I suspect they will be, I think Lock needs to play to gain some experience and we need to see what we got in this kid. There are some good young QB prospects in college right now and the Broncos look as if they will have a top 10 pick next year for sure. We need to see what Lock can do here, I mean our offensive players are fairly decent so if he’s legit he should be able to move the ball and put some points on the board. If he can’t make that happen the Broncos need to seriously consider moves in the draft. I think Lock is the real deal and just has not had it all line up for him yet to show us. I would like to see Lock play this year but Flacco signed a 3 year deal and I just believe the Broncos are dead set on him playing the entire year. Next year is a different story but I believe the bed has already been made in Denver for 2019.

GM John Elway has taken lots of criticism for his draft selections and rightly so but, I personally don’t think Elway is our problem and I’m still behind his decisions and moves. Most fans are not along these lines of thinking but I don’t see anyone else in the entire world I would like to make a change with. New Coach Fangio needs at least 3 years here before I can evaluate how I think he coaches our team. Our coaching turnover has been to high and we need to stabilize the staff to start building a new culture in Denver.

One thing is for sure.....this fan.....will never give up on the Broncos and I will watch and support them at 16-0 or 0-16. We are rebuilding here, no matter what people say. Rebuilding takes time, we have done this before. Make no mistake about it, the Blue and Orange will rise again someday. We will make It back to the Super Bowl and bring home another Lombardi if we stay the course and get younger building around this new coach. Broncos fans are restless, 0-4 is something we don’t understand. The Broncos just need to fight harder to overcome these injuries and get the first win under their belt. Broncos Country needs some good news and a win this week against the Chargers would be a gr at start.
