October 3, 19: PYPT, Prepping for Teaching, Walking, and Teaching Calculus

This morning I went on The Ramble’s Pimp Your Post Thursday radio show to promote @solairitas. It was a lot of fun, got to meet some cool new folks and see some of their amazing posts, and I even won 25 SHADE! 😁🏆

Yay! I got back out again today! Went for a solid six kilometer walk this afternoon, and crushed the ten thousand step goal for the day...looks like we might be back on track.

Not the nicest morning...cloudy and overcast, sort of drizzling, so I waited.

Was fantastic once I got out there...nice and warm with a mild breeze. Wonderful day to go for a walk, without any doubt!

After a couple kilometers, the winds shifted and it started to look pretty threatening...was sure I was gonna’ get rained on, but only a couple drops; no big deal. 🌧

Caught a reluctant picture of the kitty. You can see he’s been fighting, or at least has a boo boo on his head; maybe that’s why he doesn’t want his picture taken. 🐱

The poison ivy is back big time...total pain in my arse!

Spent the rest of the time getting ready to teach. These notes aren’t actually my notes for class, they’re my testing myself to see that I can do it from memory. I don’t use any notes for class, just teach out of my head.

We covered a lot of ground today...did the derivatives of cosecant and secant, and then all six of the inverse trigonometric functions! I showed them Newton’s Method for finding the zeros of a function and we talked a bit about concavity...will probably need to go back and do some examples, but we’re definitely ahead of the game at this point. 😀😃😁
