Transfer Window Closes! Ole's Brexit FC misses out on its mantle piece, Shawn Longstaff! PFFT!!

in #sportstalk5 years ago

The transfer window has officially come to a close and looking back on it, it has been nothing short of chaotic. Disreputable micro bloggers on Twitter have sought to latch at any transfer rumors in search of clout and that much sought after ad revenue.

Most of this rumors have turned out to be false, some totally made up, driven by fan optimism for their club's positive transfer business. But as most especially Manchester United, Tottenham and to some extent Liverpool fans have come to realise - they have had a very shitty summer window.

Now, as I am a United fan, I can only speak of my pain and disgust at the transfer window that has come to pass. The pain of it is that in some ways I am happy and in others I am totally angry and the middle ground of this is anguish that I simply do not know how to express.

Manchester United have fixed the massive hold in defense where the chuckle brothers, Jones and Smalling, occupied. Also, the dead right hand side of defense which was a massive cause of concern for over 5 years has finally got a shot in the arm with the arrival of Wan Bissaka. What a change of pace from Ashley 'freaking' Young.

However, despite resolving the issues at the back, we now have an issue in the middle. If Pogba were to get injured that midfield is empty. Bare. Like a goddamn doughnut.

The very spine of our team has osteoporosis. Brittle, and would crumble at the feeblest of pressure.

Lukaku leaves for Inter.

For the close to 8 years I have been supporting Manchester United, there have been very few players who are likely to pick up the 'United's Most Hated Player' award.

To quote a statement I heard from a YouTube video, Lukaku played like Falcao did for United when he was on loan yet he talks like Zlatan.

That statement is incredibly accurate. At least Falcao had a first touch and was coming back from a horrible knee injury. While Lukaku has scored a cummulative 42 goals for united in his two seasons at the club he has been responsible for horrible misses especially in important games and worse crippled the attack since he could not control the ball or even hold it up.

Consequently, a lot of our attacking momentum was lost with Lukaku on the pitch which frustrated the more adept Martial and Rashford.

I will not even bother mentioning the training speed stats leak on Twitter and eventually fucking off to Anderlecht where he was training before his move to Inter Milan was approved.

Honestly, good riddance . Hope he does well in the Italian league.

Looking Ahead.

Now, if not obvious, this post was slated to be uploaded two days ago but a series of events have conspired to have me postpone it till today.

Liverpool have managed to smash Norwich, City have totally decimated West Ham like I predicted and Tottenham are already using up the luck potion coming back against Aston Villa to win the game 3-1.

Tomorrow Manchester United meet Chelsea in what is arguably the best game of week one. Not only because it is a contest between the big six but because it a match that will see two legends go head to head managing the clubs they used to play for.

Similarly, both clubs are expected to finish outside the top 6 if not for a miracle. Solskjaer with his dwindling quality in midfield and attack and Chelsea about to experience a season without any signing to speak off after the transfer ban.

I am not very optimistic about our chances but I am looking forward to seeing what is possible with this squad.

See y'all tomorrow for a quick post match review.
