Much like the great time we had witnessing some amazing fixtures in the champions league, the Europa League is also another competition that has gained a lot of attention over the past couple of years and it has greatly developed into a competition that is worthy of attention. The Europa league group stage matchday two has just been completed and we have witnessed a handful of good fixtures yesterday and some of the outcomes of fixtures shows how competitive this competition is like we saw in the Az Alkmaar vs Manchester United match.

Arsenal vs Standard Liege was an exciting one. The gunners already began their Europa League journey on a solid foundation with their opening day victory. Similarly to Arsenal, Standard Liege also gave themselves a good starting base with a win in their opening day fixture. Both teams went head to head at the Emirates Stadium, as we saw the north London side completely brush aside Standard Liege to go 3 points clear at the top of group F.

It was quite a fun game for Arsenal and their fans as the team put up a quality performance to bag all 3 points. This win puts Arsenal in a good position to continue pursuing their aim to win their first European trophy. Emery decided to utilize a 4-2-3-1 formation, but made quite a number of changes to the side. However, some of the bigger boys were brought in in the second half. The gunners had a good game overall as the younger players showed how good they are and what they can do when given the chance. On the other hand, Standard Liege played in their 4-4-1-1 formation with the aim to make life difficult for Arsenal, however, the early goals by Arsenal meant it was more of a one way traffic.

As the kickoff whistle was blown, it didn’t take long for Arsenal to find the back of the net and with the number of chances created in the first half, they found themselves 3-0 up before half time. Both teams created chances in the game but Arsenal were clearly the better side with more chances created. A similar story in the second half but were only able to add one more to end the game with a 4-0 home victory and a clean sheet.

Looking at the stats we can clearly see that Arsenal totally dominated so many major aspects of the game, with a total shots of 26, 7 on target, 63% ball possession, 620 passes with an 89% pass accuracy and had a total of 9 corners in the match. On the other hand, Standard Liege only managed 13 shots, only 2 on target. They also had less of the ball with the remaining 37% ball possession, 369 passes with a 78% pass accuracy and a total of 7 corners throughout the game.

2 Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and a goal each from Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos were enough to brush aside Standard Liege at the Emirates Stadium.

Yeah that was really entertaining and we've seen the potential of youngsters like Gabriel Martinelli who can be a good replacement if Pepe have a bad game. I'd say he needs more confidence. Pepe is a great talent.

Some of the youngsters of most of the top teams in the premier league are really showcasing some real quality talents.
Arsenal have a good number of talented players who i feel can do the job when given the opportunity to play in the first team.

You are right, from what we saw from Martinelli, he can be a good replacement in the Arsenal striking positions.
