QUARTER FINAL SHOW DOWN; NIGERIA VS SOUTH AFRICA

Since 2013 the bafana bafana haven’t lost to the super Eagles of Nigeria with a record of 5 matches played, won one and drew four.

The quarter final battle saw Senegal against Benin while Super Eagles of Nigeria will trade tackles against the bafana bafana of south Africa at Cairo International Stadium for a step into the semi final of AFCON 2019.

The Super Eagles have been in a fine form in Egypt despite a disappointing defeat in group stage to Madagascar and also a great comeback against Cameroon in a five goal thriller in the round of 16 fixture.

These two side met at the qualifying stage in the group E, which saw the South Africans beating the Super Eagles 2-0 in Uyo before settling for a 1-1 draw in Johannesburg last November.

Odion Ighalo who got a brace in the round of sixteen against Cameroon is expected to lead the attack against the bafana bafana of South Africa in Cairo alongside Musa and Moses simon. The super Eagles on statistics have qualified in eight of their nine appearance in the quarterfinal stage and lost just one match in the last eight.

South Africans also have shown great zeal and resilience by finding their way to this stage of the competition, despite scoring a goal in the group phase, Stuart Baxter’s side pull an expectations by eliminating the host Egypt out of the competition courtesy Thembinkosi Lorch’s strike in the 85th minutes.
