For the third time Serbia became European champions. In the final, they beat the team from Turkey with a score of 3-2. The third place in the Italian team, she beat the Polish team with a score of 3 : 0.

For the first time 24 teams took part in the competition. The matches of the European Championship were held in Bratislava (Slovakia), Ankara, Budapest (Hungary) and Lodz (Poland).
