Eminent Muslim Cricket Players in India

Many Muslim cricketers in India have made a name for their outstanding sportsmanship. We tell about the famous Muslim cricketers of India who have made their name forever in the history pages because of their extraordinary performances.

Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin was a great cricketer. He led the Indian team in 47 Tests and 174 one-day matches. Born in Hyderabad on February 8, 1963, Azharuddin played 99 Test matches and scored 6216 runs at an average of 45.08. He played his first Test match against England in 1984 at the Eden Gardens in Calcutta. He was a charming stroke player who reminded Greg Chappell, Zaheer Abbas and Vishwa Nath. People who have seen their rise will never forget their game. Azharuddin is the only cricketer to score a century in the first innings of his first three Tests. Azharuddin also scored a century in his last Test against South Africa. His highest score in the Test was 199 runs not out. He played 334 one-day matches and scored 36.92 Tests and 21 half-centuries while in one-day matches he had seven centuries and 58 half-centuries. There is no doubt that he was a good cricketer. It is important to mention here that he was the best fielder of his time and caught more than 100 catches.

Syed Mushtaq Ali

Born in Indore on December 17, 1914, Syed Mushtaq Ali was an all-rounder. He batted right-handed and was a slow left arm bowler. There was very little cricket played in those days. Mushtaq Ali played 11 Test matches and made two centuries. He scored 612 runs at an average of 32-21. He played a total of 226 fast-class matches and scored 13213 runs at an average of 35.90 runs. His maximum score was 233 runs. He made 30 centuries and 63 half centuries. His wickets were 162 in first class matches but he managed to get only three wickets in 11 Test matches. He played his first Test match against India in Calcutta in 1934 and his last Test was against England as well. He was a prominent cricketer of his time. On June 18, 2005, at the age of 90, Syed Mushtaq Ali died in Indore.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was also the captain of India. He was also known as Tiger Pataudi. At the age of 21, Mansoor Pataudi became captain of the Indian cricket team. He is regarded as one of the greatest captains of India. He was the best fielder of his time, and was told by famous Australian commentator John Earlett and former England captain Teddexter. Born in Bhopal on January 5, 1941, Mansoor Pataudi played 46 Test matches and scored 2793 runs at an average of 34.91 runs. He made six Test centuries and 17 half centuries. His highest score in an innings was 203 runs not out. He also got a Test wicket. He also played county cricket. He lost one of his eyes in an accident. There were fears that his cricket career might end now but he continued cricket.

He was made captain of the Indian cricket team in March 1962, when the Indian team was on a tour of the West Indies. At that time, the female contractor was the captain of the Indian team. West Indies bowler Charlie Grip was injured when he was struck and Mansoor Pataudi was made captain. The series that India won at home was against New Zealand and the captain of the series was Mansoor Pataudi. Mansoor Pataudi passed away on August 25, 2011 at the age of 70.

Zaheer Khan

Zaheer Khan was a very good fast bowler. He became known as a fast bowler after Kapil Dev and Srinath. He was bowling with his left hand. He played 92 Test matches and took 311 wickets at an average of 32.95 runs. He took the honor of taking five wickets 11 times in an innings. His best bowling is seven wickets for 87 runs. He played 200 one-day matches and took 282 wickets at an average of 29.11 runs.

Born on October 7, 1978 in Ahmedabad, Dimabad district, Zaheer Khan played for Baroda from 1999 to 2006. He also played county cricket and played from Surrey and Worcestershire from 2004 to 2006. He won the Man of the Match award in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2000-01 season. He gave up eight wickets for 145 runs and got eight wickets in the second innings, while in the second innings he gave up 16 wickets for five wickets, his bowling greatness was reverse swing. Syed Mujtaba Hussain Kurmani was a wicketkeeper batsman and he also did excellent service for the Indian team. Born on December 29, 1949, Syed Kurmani played his first Test against New Zealand on January 24, 1976. He played 88 Test matches and scored 2759 runs at an average of 27.04 runs. He scored two Test centuries and 12 half centuries. He was a low-order batsman, and on several occasions he pushed India out of a difficult situation. Wasim Bari was Pakistan's wicket-keeper when Syed Kurmani was India's wicket-keeper. There is no doubt that Wasim Bari was Pakistan's best wicketkeeper. In 1978-79, when the Indian team visited Pakistan after a long time, the wicketkeeper of this team was also Syed Kermani. He had good friendship with Sim Bari. He also played 49 one-day matches in which he scored 373 runs and his maximum score was 48 runs. Syed Karmani played for the Indian team for ten years. He was an excellent wicket keeper. He played his last Test match against Australia in Sydney in 1986.

Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif got fame when he was captain of India's U-19 cricket team and won the u-19 World Cup in 2000. He played very little international cricket. It should be said that his cricket career ended prematurely. He played only 13 Test matches and scored 624 runs at an average of 32.8. His highest score in an innings was 148 not out. In 125 ODIs he scored 2753 runs at an average of 32.0 runs. And his highest score in an innings was 111 runs not out. Born in Uttar Pradesh on December 1, 1980, Mohammad Kaif belongs to a family of cricketers. His father, Mohammed Mahath, played for the Uttar Pradesh cricket team and the Railways. Mohammad Kaif played his first Test match against South Africa on March 2, 2000. His first one-day match was against England, which he played at Green Park on January 28, 2002. Mohammed Kiev gained fame for his outstanding performance in the 2002 West Indies final. He scored 75 off 87 balls. India played this final against England. In this, Mohammad Kaif along with Yuvraj Singh scored 121 runs and contributed to India's win. The real reason for Kiev's fame was his outstanding fielder. A field like this is rarely produced.

Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan can also be said to have played a few more years. He bowled very well with the new ball and played his swing with great care. They used to bat. His brother Yusuf Pathan was also a cricketer but he could not earn such a name. Irfan Pathan took 100 wickets in 29 Test matches at an average of 32.26. He took five wickets in seven innings and twice in ten matches.

Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami is the only Muslim cricketer who is currently on the Indian cricket team. He is a very good fast bowler, bowling at 145 kmph. Mohammad Shami, born in Amroha on September 3, 1990, played the first Test against the West Indies on November 21, 2013 while his first one-day match was against Pakistan. Played on January 6, 2013. His first T20 match was also against Pakistan. He has so far made 144 wickets in 40 Tests at an average of 29.5. He also won the hat-trick in a match at the Cricket World Cup in England recently.
