Spotify will cancel the accounts of those blocking advertising

in #spotify5 years ago

After the more than positive news that Spotify has released with the fiscal data of the fourth quarter of last year, there have been further changes to the terms and conditions of use of the music streaming service.

Anyone who tries to block or bypass the advertising system (especially for free accounts) may be canceled or suspended from the Spotify account. Even those who will distribute software or systems to avoid advertising the streaming service will incur the same punishment.

The sentence, which can be found on the site on the Terms and Conditions Use page, states under what is absolutely forbidden to do: circumventing or blocking advertising in the Spotify Service, or creating or distributing tools designed to block advertisements in the Spotify Service.

According to the latest data available (which still regain 2018), 2% would be free accounts that would use techniques to avoid advertising within Spotify.

Since the company is listed on the stock exchange and therefore must also respond to shareholders, actions that can undermine the revenues are taken very seriously. Moreover, the paid accounts grow (almost 100 million), which would not happen if they were widely used to avoid advertising within Spotify (for free accounts).
