SPRINGROLE: A PLATFORM FOR A TRUSTED BASED DECENTRALIZED PROFESSIONAL NETWORK

INTRODUCTION
The value and the traffic of a social network depend on its users and these platforms cannot thrive without the value of their users as they generate streams of revenues by monetizing the users’ data. However, such platforms like LinkedIn do not give rewards to their users that create and curate profile and add valuable content from the revenue generated from the pool instead the profits are accumulated to corporate sponsors of the companies(e.g LinkedIn). This is not fair to the users of the platform as users stands to get some small fragments of the total money generated by the platform.
Additionally, social networks like Linkedin needs to gives incentives to their users for participation so as to increase the value of the businesses and the platform since it is a platform that hosts professional business profiles and individuals.
However Resumes are the first point of contact that attracts a potential employer to a candidate and it contains the cogent facets that give the professional profile of an individual. Additionally, Resumes are subjected to forgery and in some cases don’t give a valid profile about the individual presenting such document which does not give a potential employer or companies the actual and correct information about a candidate.
The employers or companies need to run the resumes through a serious a series of background verification and reference checks to ensure the information provided is valid which is very tedious, hectic and time consuming.
This has eventually led to companies or employers not having confidence about what they read about candidates seeking for jobs online and ultimately not having confidence in the platform on which the information provided since it is now a common thing to have falsified or incorrect information on resumes.
The types of background checks carried out on the information provided by a candidate could be :

REFERENCE CHECK:

Since a higher percentage of resumes contain some amount of factual inaccuracy, the employer need to check the validity of each candidate to prevent bad hire and fish out candidates that provides false claims hence, validation is essential to hiring a new candidate. However, the employer might decided to reject or terminate the candidate’s appointment so as to avoid business risks If the documents and claims provided are not valid. The information provided by candidate could be educational background, professional skills, work experience

ATTESTATION

Attestation is a verification or validation of a candidate claims by the organizations that possess the information. For example if candidates claims he/she graduated from a university, the university needs to attest that the candidate actually graduated from the university based on trust and in some cases, the university can further add the course of study, years of study and other information about the candidate to validate the candidate’s.
It is the combination of attestation that complete reference checks carried out on candidates and it could include schools, former places of work, individuals e.tc.
However, these current reference checks are very tedious, expensive and time consuming for employers. Manual verification adopted in checking the validity of claims are adequate and efficient in solving the issue of forged credentials as some verification processes are subjected to a lot of middlemen which in some cases are spread across national boundaries and hence susceptible to fraud.

THE SOLUTIONS BY SPRINGROLE IN SOLVING THIS EXISTING PROBLEM

Introducing SpringRole, a platform that builds a blockchain powered protocol that allows people to have verified resumes and recommendations providing a lasting solution to the bottlenecks in the job-seeking and hiring ecosystem and returning confidence in the professional profile of people we read online by cryptographically verifying the information of users through blockchain technology.
SpringRole aims to solve the critical issue in the hiring and validation process by building a robust protocol in solving this.
However the systems adopted by SpingRole in solving these problems are :

REPUTATION SYSTEM

This is where users can rate each other in an online community to build trust. Reputation system is essential because a trust is established without knowing the individual. Additionally, reputation is built when an individual rates another user to act in good faith and work reliability and the reputation technology needs to be acknowledged based skill of the individual making the attestation. for example, the impact of user A’s attestation that user B possesses a given skill is acknowledged based on the reputation and skill level of user A for that skill.

ATTESTATION SYSTEM

On the SpringRole platform, people can view, share and acquire attestations for their professional profiles and can therefore have verified resumes which can be shared and used. There will be attestations on the three parts of the resumes provided by an individual which are :

Educational qualifications
Work Experience And
Skills.

All the above will be attested by individuals, schools of claims, former companies where the individual claims to have gathered experiences e.t.c all online the Spring platform Crowdsourcing endorsement.

The ‘SPRING’ Token which is the utility tokens will be used on the platform to endorse or attest a skill and to obtain access to attested or validated resumes(on behalf of employers).
And as against the existing social network such as Linkedln. SpringRole platform will be giving out rewards for its stakeholders/users in form of SPRING tokens and the tokens can be obtained by:

  1. Referring a friend
  2. Referring a company
  3. Endorsing a skill and the token awarded here based on the weight of the endorsement
  4. When a validator gets a fraction of the tokens based on the ration of their reputation.
    A validator can be a person attesting a skill, a university attesting a degree or a company attesting an employment
  5. Getting attestations when you complete your profile
  6. Working as a mediator in freelancing project.

CONCLUSION

The job-seeking and hiring ecosystem has never had it this good owing to the fact the process of verification and validation of claims is an expensive and time consuming process which discourages employers from hiring candidates and eventually leading to unemployment. However this has been made easy by introducing a blockchain technology based platform for verified candidates with a guaranteed of validated claims and attested skills made possible by SpringRole. This is a welcomed development in the world of blockchain technology as we can all get our credentials verified with a simple click online .
