Ainsley Maitland-Niles signs new long term contract

Last season was a very rough season for Arsenal. A disappointing Premier League campaign, an early FA Cup exit followed by another disappointing loss in the Europa League semifinal concluded with the departure of long term manager Arsene Wenger.

However, there were some positives as well for the Gunners. Very few, but there were positives. And one of the positives was the revelation of young prospect Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The 20 year old got some chances, 28 appearances to be precise and made full use of every single opportunity that he got. Playing in different positions, at right back, left back, wing back and in his natural central midfield position, the youngster impressed in every position he was played in. Niles also played for the England Under 20s team that won the U20 World Cup.

These impressive performances have now earned Niles a new long term contract at the club. Maitland-Niles signed a new five year deal with Arsenal today that will see him earning close to £30k a week. The youngster has also been given a new shirt number(15), previously worn by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who left the club to join Liverpool last season.

With Maitland-Niles, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson all hooked up with new long term deals, along with the probable signing of PSG wonderkid Yacine Adli, I think it looks like Arsenal's future is in safe hands.
