He frustrated Harry Kane and Spurs as a whole to great effect. He saved United and gave us a valuable 3 points tonight which draws us level with Arsenal in 5th place. Meanwhile, Arsenal lost by a goal to nil against West Ham and that loss made United’s win all the more important and sweet.
Rashford has been known for poor finishing sometimes. Before he struck that ball, I was already screaming he should lay the ball back for two incoming team mates but he took that goal with absolute class and I picked up my jaw. Solskjaer said something three matches ago when Rashford spurned several chances; he said he will work on his finishing and improve him in that regard. What a time for him to show the dividend of that hard work in training. Credit to him for improving and credit to the coach for showing him how. He is young and I can only imagine the fear he would give defenders in few months to come. His pace and finishing would come in handy.
Manchester United were good going forward and the remained resilient at the back too with another clean sheet going to De Gea’s credit. Before this match, he has kept 92 clean sheets since 2011, and that is the most since that time till date; now 93 and counting.
Spurs definitely played better in second half and they tried to get a breakthrough if not for the goalkeeper and the whole team that defended as a unit, but United held on and nicked the 3 points.
Oh, how can I forget that pinpoint pass from Pogba for Rashford’s goal hahaha. That was beautiful and a joy to watch. Pogba definitely knows he is the main man and he needs to keep doing it consistently so he can earn the credit his talent deserves. Consistency is key and he is proving to be a valuable player, no doubt.
I love the way the coach gave freedom to the players and even the coaching staff. See the way the coaching crew were pacing and passing instructions at will. I really admired that and he knows how to manage the situation by giving what is necessary for the moment, considering where United were coming from, even in terms of player’s revolt and unappreciated dictatorial behavior of the past coach. This is a good testament to him and no wonder he is the first Manchester United’s manager to win 6 games in a row!
This signals the beginning of a new era and I am enjoying the team now more than before. What’s your take?
