PICKFORD INSISTS HE IS JUST A BIT BEHIND COURTIOS
Jordan Pickford remains certain that the Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is not "by far" better than he is prior to the criticism thrown at the Everton shot stopper by Courtios after his side defeated the Three Lions in world cup round three.
The Red Devils claimed the first position in their group after beating Gareth Southgate's men, a courtesy of Adnan Januzaj perfect strike. England experienced their first loss of the tournament as they were unable to find the net against Belgium.
Pickford was publicly mocked by people after the match as the England first keeper was unable to deny his former Sunderland teammate Januzaj from scoring the alone goal. Some social media users went further to say he approached the ball with the wrong hand.
Courtois' comment on the goal was centered on Pickford as he used his short height as a barrier. Meanwhile, the Belgian later denied that he did not mean to insult his height.
"I will not give my total attention to that, It was just like any other game in football where you either lose, draw or win. I am a lad many people underrate but the truth is I am not far behind Courtios." The 24 year old told reporters.
He further said he will rather concentrate on more forthcoming matches than permitting criticism to take over him especially in the ongoing 2018 world cup.
