This news was recently confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia on Monday by a highly reliable source.

Williams so far has garnered five seasons of experience as head coach and he will be bringing this to the table at Sixers.

From the 2010-11 seasons down to the 2014-15 seasons, Williams led the Pelicans as well as in two playoff appearances. The 2015-16 season saw him in the position of associate head coach for the Thunders. His coaching career kicked off at Trail Blazers where he worked as an assistant coach.

He has also been a member of the Spurs front office. With his new job with the Sixers, this is more of a return for Williams to Philadelphia. In the 2002-03 season, he played for the team as a part of his playing career at the NBA which spanned over a period of nine years.
