Novak Djokovic passes the Rogers Cup first round

Novak Djokovic successfully passed the first round of the Rogers Cup tournament. The Serbian qualified for the second round after defeating Mirza Basic.
Djokovic won two straight sets of his Bosnian opponents in the match at Aviva Center, Toronto, Canada on Tuesday (07/08/2018) local time. He finished the game with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (3) in 90 minutes.
Djokovic is actually scheduled to face South Korean tennis player Chung Hyeon in the first round. However, Chung suddenly resigned due to a back injury about an hour before the match began.
"I had never before against Basic. I knew him, I practiced with him, but I never faced him in an official match. So, surely it was not easy to find a rhythm from the start of the match," Djokovic said.
"Sometimes there is frustration but that means I care," said the former world number one.
Djokovic, who won Wimbledon last month, will next face Canadian tennis player Peter Polansky in the second round.
Three Wins Grand Slam winner, Stan Wawrinka, also qualified for the second round after defeating Nick Kyrgios (Australia) with a score of 1-6, 7-5, 7-5. The Swiss tennis player will face Marton Fucsovics (Hungary) in the second round.
