McLaren's pace in Canadian Grand Prix quite bizarre - Stoffel Vandoorne

Stoffel Vandoorne has noted down the lacklustre pace of McLaren in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix labeling it as being quite bizarre.

Meanwhile, the team are currently investigating as they look towards finding out what went wrong, and finding a solution to it.

Friday's free practice sessions saw the McLaren riders with some encouraging speed and both Vandoorne and his teammate, Fernando Alonso were optimistic of a good race when they start out at Montreal.

However, despite the fact that the riders made only little changes to their cars, and didn't do a lot of racing practice with the faster hypersoft tyre, both riders realized that their pace was constantly reducing.

At the end, Alonso ended down at 14th position on the grid while Vandoorne had his place one more step behind.

Vandoorne is still baffled as to what went wrong. He stated that it was quite a disappointment to them to qualify at the back of the line.

He added that it didn't look like a problem with the cars as they all had good balance. He felt that they just lacked pace, and nothing more.
