FIFA World Cup 2018: The Unthinkables Are Happening!
The ongoing World Cup tournament in Russia has brought countless surprises to the football lovers around the globe. Many unexpected things are happening already. Heavyweights are being defeated. Favorites are being beaten mercilessly. In all, this could be the most unpredictable World Cup tournament in years.

The fate that has seen the previous winners being unable to qualify from the group stage continued with the mighty Germans this tournament. Italy won it in 2006 but could not go anywhere the following tournament in South Africa in 2010. Spain shocked the world to claim their first FIFA World Cup triumph in 2010 but surprisingly, despite their attacking minded style of play, they failed to make it out of group stage the following tournament as Brazil hosted the world in 2014.
Despite these previous records, Germany looked too strong to fall a victim of the so-called ill fate. They play a very alluring style of football and possess experienced talented players in their squad. Sports analyst across the globe ranked Germany as one of the favorite to lift the trophy in Russia. No one expected them to be unable to make it out of the group stage.
While it is not so surprising to see Portugal being sent home in Round Of 16 despite having the most lethal finisher in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo with them, it does not make any sense whatsoever to see how Argentina played in the World Cup. I mean they have countless experienced players who are doing so well in their respective clubs.
The most surprising run in this year's FIFA World Cup is given by the host themselves. Russia defeated the mighty Spain in a very thrilling encounter is among the last standing eight countries in the World Cup.

In short, this year has gotten a lot of surprises in store for the soccer lovers across the globe. Could Russia do the unthinkable by beating France and eventually win the football most prestigious trophy in the world?
