LOVE YOURSELF MORE

Source

Hey guys, so here's my entry for this week's stach-dsw contest. I hope you guys enjoy it.

"I'm a little scared of saying this, because I know you'll start getting cocky" Zizy said, but his arms around her were forcing the words out of her mouth. "I LOVE YOU" she let the words hang in the air. Unaware of the meaning of the words which she'd just uttered he smiled and knew exactly what he had to do. He pulled her in closer and planted a kiss on her head then said the same to her. Her world stopped moving and the heavens parted, her fears had been put to shame, Winner really did love her she thought.

Her legs parted ways and she granted him access to what he had long since been after. They made love and her screams filled the night sky but her heart was right there in Winner's hands...just like it had been in so many others. "This is the one" she thought to herself, "The guy that'll take me home to his mom, the one that'll put a ring on it and wife me". Her hopes where short lived as the very next day Winner left for Lagos where he was based, he'd just completed his service and was heading home, but not before getting in one more round for the road.

He kissed her good bye that morning as he began his journey, filling her head with false promises of coming back to Onitsha to marry her. Her heart wept, but she couldn't tell him not to go. Later that night, she called him, hoping that the guy she'd decided to give it all to...again had reached Lagos safely, but he didn't pick up. She called the next day, but the case was the same, she called for a whole week before she realised that he wasn't ever going to pick her calls or come back for that matter.

Broken and dejected, she went to her friend Bukunmi to tell her the news, "You knack am??" Bukunmi asked and with a nod she replied, "I thought he loved me". Bukunmi sighed and sat Zizy down. It was always the same story with Zizy, she'd been without a father's love as a child and so she always sought love in the hands of other men but the fact that she was extremely beautiful and we'll endowed as well as an emotionally unstable made her an easy target for guys.

It was the same thing with Francis, he'd "chopped and cleaned mouth", David did the same thing, Uchenna too and now Winner. Zizy wasn't actually a loose girl, no, not by a long shot, but she just couldn't resist giving her all to the guys she fell for, she always wanted to give them as much love as possible, even if it meant losing herself in the process. Bukunmi looked at her friend and decided to give her some words of wisdom that a her friend Chinyere had given her.

She said "My darling, we all have a fixed amount of love in us, and who we give it to is important, but how much of that love we keep for ourselves is more important". You see Zizy was always fixed on giving so much love to the guys that she fell for, but she never for one day thought about the concept of loving herself.

Bukunmi asked her if she "Loved herself", a moment ago she would have said yes, but right now she wasn't so sure. Her eyes watered when she realised what Bukunmi said was right. The love she had, she keep for herself more.

No more Francis and Winner telling her sweet things,
They only wanted to get into her pants.
She was going to love herself and that gave her wings,
But not to fly off into another man's hands.

She'd been through the ringer a couple of times
With guys that brought to the table only lies
Her heart was broken and she felt so dejected
But Bukunmi had a point, the love she gave and the love she had were connected

She asked herself when the last time was that she didn't need a man
I guess the day she was born and didn't see her dad
If she can make a change then surely we all can
Because loving yourself is a good thing, it's not bad.

That's it for today folks, if you liked it then
