My experience reviewing Viola.AI for the “State of the Dapps” contest

Ever since I opened my Steem account more than a year ago, I have participated in a lot of writing contest, mostly about researching different blockchain projects. Some days ago, there was a new contest hosted by @oracle-d, which consisted in reviewing a social dapp that every participant could choose from the State of the Dapps website, and I decided to give it a shot.

Winners announcement

4 days ago @dapplovers announced the 5 winners and I was very pleased to see my name included as one of the top reviewers! The other winners were @rosatravels, @daan, @samminator and @eugelys. Congratulations to all!

Why did I choose Viola.AI for my review?

I have mentioned in the past that Black Mirror is one of my favorite series, there is an episode called Hang the DJ where a smart application takes all of the romantic decisions of every individual, such as who to date or when to break up, and each person needs to follow whatever it is the system says, it seems kind of dystopian, but this topic (the potential impact of future technology in human lives) are always explored in every Black Mirror episode.

When I read about Viola.AI, I realize they have the plan of developing an AI that would be capable of helping individuals manage their romantic relationships, make suggestions regarding how to best handle the problems with their partners, and how to make them happy. Their plan is to apply deep learning techniques that could figure out what it is that each individual want from their partners, and then make suggestions to said partner. This was very similar to the technology that is showed in the episode I mentioned above, so I decided this project was interesting enough to put a few hours researching it, and writing the review.

There is much more to say regarding Viola.AI, so for those interested in reading the complete review, you can check it here.

The entire experience was extremely positive and I am looking forward to similar activities!

Dear @dedicatedguy

Wow. That is such an amazing initiative. Love it.

Congratulations and Im definetly going to read your review right away :)

ps.
Mentioned by you episode of Black Mirror has been so depressing. I'm sure more and more people will be falling into trap of different dating apps. Even tinder is killing all "romantic" sphere already. It's all about getting to know someone who you will get laid with. And maybe never see again.

Cheers
Piotr

Well it might seem depressing, but the trend is clear, our lives will continue to revolve more and more around digital platforms as time goes on.

I really recommend youto watch the Black Mirror series, check the other episodes when you have the time, for example, San Junipero shows a positive aspect of future technology, I am sure you will like that episode, and there is some authentic romance in it.

Hi @dedicatedguy

I watch this series twice. LOVED IT! :)
