Monsanto Trials Raise Questions About Effectiveness of EPA Regulations
Many people believe that the EPA has been put into place to keep them safe, but the recent Monsanto trials have raised questions about that promise, by highlighting the ineffectiveness of regulations as a result of the cozy relationship between the EPA and Monsanto.
“The EPA has been subject to regulatory capture. The relationship between the regulator –the EPA– and the regulated –Monsanto– is too close... the EPA is protecting Monsanto, not protecting the public.” - attorney Michael Baum
There are many protests that have taken place against Monsanto over the years, millions of people worldwide have voiced their concern for this corporation and the products that they're putting on the market.
There are also thousands of lawsuits that they are facing, by people who claim to have been injured because of their products. And it might prompt some to wonder why the EPA has taken such a seemingly lax stance toward Monsanto over the years.
The EPA still deems Roundup to be a safe product, insisting that it isn't harmful and that it shouldn't be considered a carcinogen.
“The EPA is not following its guidelines for evaluating the carcinogenicity of chemicals they’re supposed to be counting and evaluating,” - Baum
The close relationship between the government and Monsanto isn't new and has been called into question numerous times. And previous court documents allegedly revealed that the EPA had been well aware of the risks associated with these products and yet they allowed the public to be exposed regardless, while the risks were downplayed.
For those who have placed their trust in the EPA to make sure that products they might be buying are safe, they might not be wondering what good the organization is when it fails to do the only job that it has, and the failure is now prompting people to question other regulatory agencies as well.
The EPA continues to tell people they have nothing to worry about with products like glyphosate, meanwhile it's alleged that back in the 80s that they were aware then that glyphosate might pose cancer risks.
Indeed! EPA is government working exactly as it is intended. Protecting the interests of the few against the many. Unfortunately even if this agency was completely exposed for the corrupt corporate shills they are, most would not see it as proof of the failure of statism.

I’m sure you are a good person, since it seems like you care about the environment, but your comment proves my point. This is government working exactly how it is intended to work. Until more people are willing to admit this, nothing will get better.
