Borussia Dortmund vs. Hertha Berlin
The top game of the 9th round will be played between leader Dortmund and the club from capital Berlin who is ranking at place 6. with five points less than the Borussia. While Dortmund has been destroying opponents lately – even Atletico Madrid lost 0:4, Berlin has struggled to win since their triumph over Bayern Munich in the 6th round of the league. Will Dortmund’s winning streak continue, or will the Hertha find back on the winner side?
Mainz vs. Bayern Munich
Even though Bayern has a little crisis, everything other than a victory in Mainz would be a disaster for the club from Bavaria. In the last two games (Bundesliga + Champions League), they finally found themselves winning again – and if Kovac wants to stop discussions regarding his person, Bayern better shouldn’t lose any more games in the Bundesliga until winter break. Mainz who hasn’t won since five games is likely going to be the victim of this situation and will need to watch out not to find themselves close to the declassification area soon.
Hannover 96 vs. Augsburg
In this duell both teams are looking for important points in the fight for staying in the Bundesliga. At the moment Augsburg has three more points than the six Hannover has – but that is still not enough for safe places in the first half of the league table. However, Augsburg has already played against Leipzig (draw), Dortmund (loss) and Bayern (draw), which makes their points worth far more as way weaker opponents are going to come now. In the end this will be a match on the same level where a draw doesn’t seem unlikely to happen.
Fortuna Dusseldorf vs. Wolfsburg
Looking at the names and the costs of the players, one could say that Dusseldorf, the club at the last position of the league table, is a clear underdog in this matchup. However, Wolfsburg wasn’t able to win in the last six rounds and only are above Dusseldorf because of their strong first two rounds. So, if Dusseldorf has a chance to rise from their lows, the home-game against Wolfsburg seems like a nice opportunity to gather up some points. If Wolfsburg should manage to win again, things look bad for Dusseldorf. Definitely an interesting duell regarding the fight against declassification.
Hoffenheim vs. VfB Stuttgart
The next team fighting to get out of the declassification area is Stuttgart, who has as little points as Dusseldorf who they also shared points with in their direct duell. This week they have the chance to pick up some points in Hoffenheim, which is of course no easy task at all. After a win in their last Bundesliga game and a nice draw against Lyon in the Champions League, the Nagelsmann-squad has a lot of self-esteem and will definitely play for a victory against Stuttgart. Anything else than a win from Hoffenheim would be a big surprise in my eyes.

Während Dortmund seiner Gegner in den letzten Wochen zerstört hat – sogar Atletico Madrid verlor 0:4, hat Berlin seit dem Sieg über die Bayern in Runde sechs Probleme zu gewinnen. Wird Dortmunds Serie weitergehen, oder findet die Hertha zurück auf die Gewinnerstraße?
Mainz vs. Bayern München
Obwohl sich die Bayern in einer kleinen Krise befinden, wäre alles andere als ein Sieg in Mainz ein Desaster für den Klub. In den letzten zwei Pflichtspielen lernten die Münchner das Siegen wieder – und wenn Kovac Diskussionen um seine Person verstummen lassen will, dann sollten die Bayern in der Hinrunde der Bundesliga besser nicht mehr verlieren. Mainz, welches seit fünf Runden nicht gewonnen hat, wir wohl ein Opfer dieser Situation werden und wird schauen müssen, nicht schon bald mitten im Abstiegskampf zu sein.
Hannover 96 vs. Augsburg
In diesem Duell geht es für beide Teams um wichtige Punkte im Kampf um den Klassenerhalt. Im Moment hat Augsburg drei Punkte mehr als Hannover mit ihren sechs Zählern – aber für die obere Tabellenhälfte genügt auch das nicht. Immerhin hat Augsburg aber bereits gegen Leipzig (Unentschieden), Dortmund (Niederlage) und die Bayern (Unentschieden) gespielt, was die Punkte natürlich deutlich mehr wert macht, da von nun an wohl eher leichtere Gegner kommen werden. In diesem Match auf Augenhöhe erscheint ein Unentschieden definitiv nicht unwahrscheinlich.
Fortuna Düsseldorf vs. Wolfsburg
Schaut man nur auf die Namen und die Kosten der Kader, so könnte man zum Schluss kommen, dass Düsseldorf hier der klare Underdog ist. Wolfsburg konnte allerdings in den letzten sechs Runden nicht gewinnen und zehrt noch immer von den zwei Auftaktsiegen. Wenn Düsseldorf also eine Chance hat, sich vom letzten Tabellenplatz nach vorne zu arbeiten, dann könnte es im Heimspiel gegen die gebeutelten Wölfe sein. Auf jeden Fall ein interessantes Duell im Abstiegskampf.
Hoffenheim vs. VfB Stuttgart
Das nächste Team, welches aus der Abstiegszone herauskommen will ist Stuttgart, welches mit gleich wenigen Punkten wie Düsseldorf auf der vorletzten Tabellenposition liegt. Diese Woche haben sie theoretisch die Chance in Hoffenheim zu punkten, was natürlich nicht leicht wird -vor allem jetzt, wo die Hoffenheimer nach einem Sieg in der Bundesliga und einen Unentschieden in der Champions-League gegen Lyon eine breite Brust haben und sicherlich auf Sieg spielen werden. Alles andere als ein solcher Heimsieg wäre in diesem Spiel für mich auch eine große Überraschung.
