Steem is stronger than any of us could foresee
Have you checked the State of the Dapps lately?
The top 4 positions are Dapps on the Steem blockchain.
7 out of the top 10 are Dapps on the Steem blockchain.
And 10 out of the top 20!!
This is super significant, since State of the Dapps ranks projects by number of active daily users.
The most known platforms to build applications on are actually Ethereum and EOS. I think nobody ever really took Steem seriously as a competitor, especially not until SMTs are launched. Whatever happened to SMTs?
Ethereum may have the most developers, but Steem has the largest active daily user community.
New projects and apps are coming out of that community - SMTs or not - and developer teams build what the community actually desires. So once those projects launch, their future users are already eager and ready - and most likely they actively contributed, too, even if it was just with a Steempower delegation.
That Drugwars game - in the number #1 spot - was launched just about a month ago, wasn't it? And now it's the most popular game not only on Steem, but across the board! It even overtook Steemmonsters, which has been a phenomenal success over the past year.
This is really significant. Especially for investors.
Whether you enjoy Steemit as a content creator or not, you may now see how valuable the whole Steem eco system is, and what potential it holds, beyond just the social media platform.
The real value of any currency is in its adoption by a community - there need to be buyers and sellers for a currency to work. There needs to be an eco systems in which those tokens are accepted and appreciated as a currency.
And if there's a community that actually has skin in the game and is emotionally and/or financially invested in this eco system, then you truly have something that might grow and last beyond just an initial hype of a couple of years.
Steem may be the only blockchain for which this truly is the case right now.

I have doubts that Drugwars success will be for a long term given their current condition though.
I’m not a gamer so I have no knowledge on that - whats up with their current condition?

There is no good reason to do battles.
There is no good reason to spend anything on it.
Strong player vs strong player (or relatively even battles in general) is a huge waste of resource for both.
Strong player vs weak player is a huge waste of time as the strong player produces way faster than what they can plunder from the weak one.
Relatively weaker players get constantly trampled by much stronger players that actually bothers to waste time finding and attacking them. What's worse once found they can get added to a bot list to get constantly attacked.
Best strategy now is just build, build, build army and heisting the drugs so at least when someone is dumb enough to attack you they will be at a bigger loss.
The shrinking total reward pool is the obvious indicator no one bothers to spend anymore. It's already below $1000 now.

Jep... it is cool to see :) ... I think soon some big whale start see it. And then they start come in.
I couldn't agree more and in fact I just tweeted a steem promotional tweet saying much the same. It is about utility beyond just crypto/token that makes steem stand out and honestly, I'm starting to think we may all end up really big winners long term.
Batman has a utility belt.... steem has a utility suit with a million pockets ;-)
i think some SMT is starting t actually work... @actifit for instance now has a service in it where you can change the tokens that you get from using the app to upvotes....and that is how it starts!
That's similar to the Partiko points, which you can exchange for Steem, right? It doesn't take SMT's, though (I think).
That's what I love about this whole thing - turns out SMT's are not even needed for all the things the community wants to build on top of Steem, LOL! This is how "the market" or the community regulates itself in a completely different way than originally intended.
heheehe Ow I thought partiko was also like an smt idea to be honest? But ow damn, indeed this makes me even more curious what WILL happen then with smt's because I already thought these dapps were a part of that..heheheh
