RE: Is “pay to play” the right way for Steem?

in #steem6 years ago

Unsure about this to be honest.. On one hand I think that some will buy multiple accounts to speed up and have access to more accounts but some wont be able to afford it - this is some of the appeal here for spammers is its free and easy to get set up....

I agree about some type of algorithm to spot and flag/demonotise comment spam. Again problem with that is people will just start comenting spam in a new way and it might never end! I think alot of the 'spam' is just because people are not educated on how Steem works and that good discussion is the best way to make friends (and money) on here...

It's true that a lot of people, especially newer members don't understand Steem, but that#s mainly because Steem is so complicated. But for those who simply copy & paste "great article, I learn lots" over and over, they know what they're doing - and they believe they'll get $x/day doing it.

When you can see that a user is adding no value to any conversation, but is "earning" money, what do you do? Let them continue and the problem grows, or put something into place to stop it.

A rising tide raises all boats, but the tide won't rise if people are clogging the inlets with crap.

Yeah and most people dont put in enough effort to learn how it all works - it does take a bit of time to learn the ropes. Yeah lots of people here are just trying to game the system.

I dont know I guess its up to education, and realising that this type of behaviour wont last or be tolerated by most on here
