[Steem talk] airdrop & relationship

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

We had a very fun conversation at the chat group this morning, related to how to claim some air drop by having meet certain criteria. What's funny is, usually allocated airdrop is fixed amount for a certain period, to certain people, named or unnamed basis.

Usually,a fair airdrop, well like if it will ever be fair, will be distributed to number of accounts. Now when it comes to via registration and first setting an average distribution, which means the more people register, the less number one is getting in the end.

The irony is, people will start to create more account by all means to collect the air drop. And this means, stake is flowing out uncontrollably. It can do harm to the token price once the air drop client received token at their end.

All token offering has a base price for reference. But not all of those initiative has the capability to sustain that amount of STO bring printed out. And therefore, the initial launch price will be reference as a norm to all stake holder. What kind of harm can airdrop does to the existing stake holder or investors or the coin offering initiative themselves?

  1. People could sell their airdrop below reference value, or even lower than market value. It's free token by the way.
  2. People could create multiple accounts to receive multiple airdrops, group them together and start selling votes. Or, they can even create massive price dump by selling all the airdrops at one shot.
  3. Stake holders now having so much fun receiving 50% of curation reward, by right there's no more vote selling services. But again, it is so much easier to distribute profit sharing now wowht the said 50% split. One can cross account and delegate to one big giant account and create a self upvote via internal circle jerking.

See what I mean? In this #steem platform, I'm sure we mean no harm to each other. Matter of fact, #scot had actually created many opportunities for those who keen to launch their own #sto . Some of those user had found their own playground, namely some content creator which previously having hard time to survive because their #porn content is not widely acceptable. People would also feel bad by upvoting porn stuff, worrying if they we get flagged all together. Now they found their way happily ever after in dporn.co

Can we say who is right or who is wrong? All I can say is, airdrop is a double edge sword. It can do good in promoting one token offering whne people will rush to get in, especially for free. But it's going to cost harm if not being handled properly after the launch. Don't get me wrong, I got my #sports all via content creation, small portion purchased with #steemp and majority of my tokens are now delegated to my alt and upvoting myself and many other whom I supporting.
